SONOCO ALCORE

Brief:  SGM has been commissioned to undertake several various projects for our client ‘Sonoco Alcore‘ some of which are outlined below:

Biological Effluent Treatment Plant

Installation of new plant and system which consisted of 11no. silo tanks and formation of external hard standing and bund/drainage channels. Our involvement included design and details for tank base and foundations, hard standing areas and drainage channels and boundary wall and bund wall conditions.

External Canopy Extension

Installation of new 6m external canopy structure onto existing building to form covered area. Our involvement comprised the design and detailing of the steelwork canopy structure.

New Bailing Shed

Erection of new bailing shed and covered canopy area. Our involvement included the design and detailing of the steelwork portal frame structure, foundations, floor slab and machine pit. Foundations compromised of piled foundations and reinforced concrete ground beams to support the superstructure and suspended floor slab due to poor ground conditions.

Tessa Project (Tetra-Pak recycling system plant)

Installation of new recycling plant system housed within existing building. Our involvement included design and detailing of plant and tank bases and foundations for several elements of the plant together with alterations to the existing gable end of building and design and detailing of lattice truss support services/pipework over external yard area.

No. 2 Machine House

The steel work structure of the existing building was showing signs of corrosion and existing concrete slabs had been adapted over time.
SGM were commissioned to undertake a conditional survey of the superstructure and provide recommendations for any remediation works. Proposed layout plans and details were also prepared in addition to the report to show the proposed remedial works.
